【BUMP OF CHICKEN】千葉・QVCマリンフィールドで初スタジアムライブ堂々完遂

　BUMP OF CHICKENが昨日8月9日（金）に千葉・QVCマリンフィールドでバンド初のスタジアムワンマンライブを開催。集まった3万5000人の観客を前に、名曲の数々を惜しみなく披露した。

　この日の公演は、7月に発売されたベストアルバム「BUMP OF CHICKEN I［1999-2004］」「BUMP OF CHICKEN II［2005-2010］」の発売記念ライブとして実施。バンドにとって初めてのスタジアムライブは、彼らの地元である千葉で開催という記念すべきものになった。またYouTubeを使った生配信を行うことが事前にアナウンスされており、多くの音楽ファンが4人の熱演を間近で感じた。

　夕闇が迫る頃、場内BGMの「ボレロ」の音量が大きくなるにつれ、フィールドを埋めた大観衆が鳴らすクラップの音がどんどん大きくなる。そして楽曲がクライマックスを迎えると同時に客電が落ち、同時に升秀夫（Dr）の叩くリズミカルなドラムが響き渡る。その後、ベストアルバムのシンボルのフラッグがあしらわれたジャケットをまとったメンバーが続々と登場すると、そのたびにオーディエンスは歓声と拍手で迎えた。1曲目に演奏されたのは「Stage of the ground」。藤原基央（Vo, G）の歌声にあわせ観客が右腕を振り上げると、腕に付けられたLED照明付きリストバンドが虹色に輝き、美しい空間を作り出す。また「firefly」では、ウルトラテクノロジスト集団チームラボが開発した「チームラボボール」がフィールドを浮遊し、同曲のミュージックビデオとリンクした空間を出現させる。そして序盤のハイライトとなったのは、新曲「虹を待つ人」。この日の開場時間にあわせて、本日のライブでミュジックビデオが撮影されることが発表されており、「虹を待つ人」のイントロが鳴らされるとさらなる興奮が会場中に満ちた。

　「ベストアルバム発売記念ライブにようこそ！ BUMP OF CHICKENです！ みんな会いたかったぞ！」と直井由文（B）がメンバーを代表して挨拶。そして来場してくれた観客全員、さらに画面の前のYouTube視聴者にもお礼を告げると、場内のみならずTwitterやGoogle+などのSNSでも歓喜の声が沸いた。その後はベストアルバムに収められた懐かしい楽曲を立て続けに披露。「オンリーロンリーグローリー」では増川弘明（G）の奏でる疾走感あふれるギターが空気を裂き、「プラネタリウム」ではオーディエンスが一斉に腕を左右に振る様子にあわせてザイロバンドがきらめく。さらに「花の名」ではゆったりとしたテンポにあわせ情感豊かに響く藤原の歌声が、やわらかく観客の心を包む。

　メンバーもかけがえのないライブを全身で楽しんでいる様子で、次のMCでは藤原が微笑みながら「楽しんでる？ 僕らも今、すごい幸せな気分です。どうもありがとう」と口にした。そしてギターをつま弾きながら次の曲が何かわかるかと観客に問いかける。たくさんの正解が叫ばれるのを聞きながらニコっとすると、そのまま「ダイヤモンド」を奏で始めた。さらに「メーデー」「カルマ」とアップテンポのナンバーが演奏されていく。

　「この場所、僕ら初めてなんですけど、そんな僕らでも言える言葉があります……『千葉へようこそ！』」と藤原が叫ぶと、場内は三たび沸き上がる。続けて「懐かしい曲やります」と鳴らされたイントロは、ファンに愛される名曲「K」だ。そして最後は、バンド最大のヒットシングル「天体観測」をかき鳴らす。嬉しそうに合唱する声があちらこちらに響き、特殊効果の金テープが舞い散る中で、本編は華々しく終わりを迎えた。このスペシャルな時間をもっと長続きさせたい、とばかりにファンがアンコール代わりに「supernova」の一節を力の限り歌う。それに導かれるようにステージに再登場した直井、増川、藤原の3人は、お揃いのTシャツ姿でニコニコと肩を組んでいる。そしてラストに登場した升は、厳かにお辞儀。ライブの翌日に誕生日を迎える彼に向けて、観客も含めた場内の全員で「ハッピーバースデー」を歌うというプレゼントが贈られると、升はマイクを通さず生声で何度も「ありがとう」と叫んでいた。

　楽しいライブもいよいよ終わりの時間に。直井が「今日はみんなありがとう！ YouTubeの前の皆さんもありがとう！」と改めて感謝の気持ちを述べ、藤原が「感謝の気持ちを込めて歌います」と告げた直後に演奏されたのは「ガラスのブルース」だ。正確なリズムでバンドの屋台骨を支える升、声を張って歌いながらベースを弾く直井、勢いのあるフレーズを見事に弾きこなす増川、一語一語丁寧に歌を紡いでいく藤原。ステージ上の4人は、この日一番の笑顔を見せながらラストナンバーを披露し、全12曲に及んだステージに幕を下ろした。

　なおライブで演奏された新曲「虹を待つ人」は、8月21日（水）にレコチョク、iTunes Storeなどでフルサイズ配信がスタートする。
