【高橋 優】最も伝わるのはミニマムなメッセージ

　“今”を切り取り歌うリアルタイム・シンガーソングライターの高橋 優の2カ月連続リリースシングル第二弾である「同じ空の下」へ込めた“今”を直撃した。

──2カ月連続でシングルリリースの第二弾シングル「同じ空の下」ですが、3曲を収録した今作は“働く人”をモチーフにした歌が集まった一枚になった印象ですね。

「それなりの意思は働いていたと思います。カップリングに「髭」を収録したいって言ったのも僕ですし。「がんばれ細野さん」はシングルに入るとは思っていなかったんです（笑）。もちろん、自分の中ではどれもシングルになってもいいと思って書いているから、何がどうなってもいいんですけど、「同じ空の下」はともかく「がんばれ細野さん」もシングルに入れてもらえたか…って、生みの親としては温かい気持ちで見ている感じですね。」

──タイトル曲「同じ空の下」はNHK総合『仕事ハッケン伝』の新テーマソングということもあって、今や働く人への応援歌というイメージも付いていますしね。

「最終的に、この現代を戦う人たちに捧げる歌にはなっています。でも、一番最初からそういうシングルにしようと思って作っていたわけではなかったんですよね。」

──最初はどんな気持ちで向き合っていったのですか？

「先に発売した「(Where’s)THE SILENT MAJORITY?」は“声をあげていこう”というテーマがあったんですけど、この「同じ空の下」に関しては、何を書けばいいのか分からなくなったんです。」

──テーマが見えなくなったってこと？

「う?ん…。何を言葉にすればいいんだろう、みたいなものに完全にブチ当たっちゃって。それで半ば弱気になった。でも、弱気にはなったんだけど、もしもそんな自分を見たら、一緒に夢を語らった友だちや別のところで頑張ってる友達に笑われるかなぁって思ったんですね。そんな友達たちのことを想いながら言葉を書いていったんですよ。そうしたらこういう歌詞になったんです。」

──壁にブチ当たったと？

「今でもブチ当たりますよ。でも、自分がどれくらいの大きさの壁にブチ当たっているかってことは、曲を書いている時には分からないんですよね。ものすごい大きな壁だって思っていても、越えてみたら全然大したことなかったなってことがよくあるし。今回はそうだったんです。通ってみたら意外と大きな壁ではなかった。「(Where’s)THE SILENT MAJORITY?」で“声をあげていこう”って話をした。声をあげるってことは、その声に対して何らかの反応なり、声なりが返ってくるってことなんですよね。じゃあ声をあげた後、声が返ってきて、呼応していく中で、次に自分は何を言うんだろうかってことで、さらに何を提示しようってところで、変に責任感を感じちゃったんだと思うんですよね。そのうち、こういう情けない自分もいるんだよっていうのを書いてもいいんじゃないかって感じて、さっきも話したような歌詞が書けたんです。誰かに何かを伝えるのに、実は一番伝わるのって、すごくミニマムなこと。最もミニマムな自分のことを歌うことで、メッセージはより伝わるんじゃないかなって思います。」

──その2枚のシングルを引っ提げてのツアーが2本控えているわけですが。

「今回はライヴハウスツアーと、ホールツアーをやるんですけど、前回のツアー以降のリリースもハンパないので、また違ったものになると思います。ぜひ楽しみにしていてください。」
