【ピロカルピン】全曲リード曲クオリティーの、三つ子シングル！

　ピロカルピンがメジャー初のシングル「ロックスターと魔法のランプ」をリリース。よりキャッチーにカッコ良く、より共感度が増した粒ぞろいのシングルについて松木智恵子（Vo&Gu）が語る。

──１曲目の「ロックスターと魔法のランプ」は、すごくキャッチーな楽曲に仕上がりましたね。

「今回は一枚を通して、ピロカルピンを聴いたことのない方にも届くような作品にしたいと思って。「ロックスターと魔法のランプ」は、ストレートなサウンドにこだわりました。あと、ピロカルピンはコード感が肝で、いつもギターとベースのコードをちょっと危うい響きにぶつけることが多いのですが、聴く人によっては違和感を感じるかもしれないと思って、そういう部分を極力排除しているところがいつもと違いますね。」

──歌詞もすごく分かりやすいと思いました。

「今までは共感を求めるより、風景をイメージしてもらうことを意識していたのですが、「ロックスターと魔法のランプ」はヘッドフォンチルドレンの歌で、仕事や学校で疲れたり、嫌なことがあった時に音楽の世界に没頭することで癒されて力をもらった経験が、きっと誰でもあると思うので、そういう共通の体験が伝わるものになったらいいなと思って書きました。どんなリスナーでも心の中に持っているのが魔法のランプで、大好きなロックスターの音楽を聴くことでそのランプに油が注がれ、心が輝くというイメージです。」

──松木さんもヘッドフォンチルドレンだった？

「はい。辛かった時、音楽に何度も救われました。きっと今の時期、新入社員の方や新しく学校に入学した方は、慣れない環境で大変なことも多いと思うので、ぜひ聴いてほしいですね。この曲が、みなさんのパワーの源になったら嬉しい。」

──ちなみに松木さんのロックスターは誰ですか？

「ちょっと不思議な組み合わせですが、クイーンのフレディ・マーキュリーと、元ストーン・ローゼスのイアン・ブラウンです（笑）。実は歌入れの時、譜面台にフレディとイアンの写真を立てて歌ったんです。何か、パワーをもらえるんじゃないかと思ったのと、そういうノリっていうか（笑）。」

──ズダダダダッというドラムで始まるのがカッコ良い！

「自分で言うのも何ですが、すごくカッコ良いです！（笑）」

──２曲目の「モノクロ」と、3曲目の「シャルル・ゴッホの星降る夜」はどんなイメージで？

「「モノクロ」はバラードを作ろう！と。ちょっとノスタルジックな曲ですが、チャップリンの『街の灯』というモノクロ映画を連想して、歌詞とサウンドを組み立てています。「シャルル・ゴッホの星降る夜」は四つ打ちビートの踊れるロックで、ゴッホの『星降る夜』という絵をイメージして作りました。」

──どうしてゴッホが？

「絵画に詳しいというわけではないのですが、ゴッホ独特の力強いタッチや色彩感が、すごく好きだったんです。それで曲を聴いた時に、直感的にゴッホの絵を思い出して。『星降る夜』はゴッホが精神的にすごく安定していた時の作品だそうなのですが、湖と北斗七星が描かれていて、右下にゴッホと恋人がいる、すごく綺麗でロマンチックな絵なんですよ。」

──個人的には、表題曲は「シャルル・ゴッホの星降る夜」でもいいなと。

「より多くの方に伝わるように、今までのピロカルピンの音は忘れてゼロから作るような感覚で進めたのですが、結果的にどれがリード曲になってもおかしくないクオリティーの高い3曲になりました。だから、すごく自信作です！　いわゆるリード曲とカップリング曲の構成ではなく、3曲ともリード曲という意味で、メンバー内では“三つ子シングル”と呼んでます（笑）。」
