Superfly、ニューアルバム収録曲「On Your Side」が「熱闘甲子園」のテーマソングに決定

Superflyが5月27日（水）にリリースする、約3年ぶりのオリジナルアルバム『WHITE』。その4曲目に収録されている「On Your Side」が、“2015 ABC夏の高校野球応援ソング”「熱闘甲子園」のテーマソングに決定した。

もともと同曲は、このためにSuperflyが書き下ろしたもの。Katy Perryとの共作でBillboard No1も記録し、ヒットソングを多数手掛けるアメリカ、ロサンゼルスのソングライター、Bonnie McKee（ボニー・マッキー）に依頼し、志帆のイメージを伝え、壮大なミディアムバラードに仕上がった。作詞を志帆が担当している。

そして、レコーディングではストリングスを入れて、より感動的になるよう壮大さを演出しており、通常の歌入れでは1時間も満たない時間で終了するのだが、志帆の感情が高ぶり過ぎてしまい、涙を流し一時中断するというシーンもあったそうだ。それ程までに魂を込めて制作した楽曲とも言える。

1915年（大正4年）に「全国中等学校優勝野球大会」（当時は豊中球場で開催）として始まった全国高校野球選手権大会は、この夏、100年を迎え、8月6日（木）に開幕する。100年の特別な夏、第97回全国高校野球選手権大会を熱く盛り上げる“2015 ABC夏の高校野球応援ソング”のために今回書き下ろした楽曲となり、テーマは「人と人とのつながり」。この楽曲を制作するにあたり、下記のようなコメントを寄せている。

この楽曲を制作する前に、過去の映像を拝見させて頂きましたが、涙無しでは観ることができませんでした。
その映像を観るまでは、きっと頑張っている球児達に感動するんだろうな、と思っていましたが、甲子園というものが、球児の周りにいる家族や友人の「夢」になっていることに感動しました。
『On Your Side』は“人と人とのつながり”をテーマに書きたいと制作に取り組みました。
大切な人を支えたい、大切な人がいるから頑張れる…そんなみなさんの大切な人を思い出させてくれるような曲になればいいなと思っています。
力強くもあり、やさしさに溢れた楽曲に仕上がっています。是非、聴いてください。
