【earthmind】つながることで生まれる大きなエナジー

　earthmind史上、最高にポップで明るいロックチューンが到着！想いが重なることで生まれるパワーを歌った3rdシングル「ENERGY」について、Erina（Vo）が語る。

──シングル「ENERGY」はこんなに前向きでポジティブな楽曲になるとは、正直ちょっと驚きでした。

「オープニングテーマになっているTVアニメ『ビビッドレッド・オペレーション』のテーマが“友情”だったので、ひたすら明るい曲にしたかったんです。みんなひとりじゃ生きていけない、誰かとつながることで大きな力が生まれるんだってことを歌いたくて。結果、今までになくポップで、カラフルで、アップテンポなロックチューンになりましたね。まずはかたちから入ろうと、レコーディングにはビビッドなピンクのスカートを履いていったくらい（笑）。」

──今までの曲ではErinaさんの歌声にも凛としたムードが強かったのですが、おかげで今回は笑顔が見えましたね。

「もう、常に口角上がってました。特に大サビは歌っていてもメチャメチャ気持ち良くて！　太陽の光がキラキラ反射する青い海と青い空に、バーッ！と虹がかかっていく情景が頭の中に広がって、《ぶつかって寄り添って 強くなるこのキズナを》っていう歌詞がギューッ！と胸に入ってくるんです。私の大親友もすごく本音でぶつかってきてくれる子で、“Erinaのこういうところがいけない”とかズバッと言ってくれるんですよ。そんな経験もあったから、お互いに弱い部分も曝け出すことで絆が強くなっていくんだなぁ…って実感できて、歌っていても身体の内からエネルギーが湧いてくるような感覚があったんです。」

──だから“ENERGY”というタイトルになったのですか？

「はい。ひとりよりふたり、3人と、みんなのエネルギーが重なり合うことで、より強い力が生まれてくる。それはearthmindのメンバー間でもそうだし、2012年末のライヴで「ENERGY」を初披露した時には、来てくださった方々の盛り上がりからも感じることができたんですね。おかげで自信にもつながったし、聴けば自然と心躍るこの曲を、今は早くみなさんに届けたい気持ちでいっぱいです！」

──駆け抜けていく疾走感がある「ENERGY」に対して、カップリングの「Naked」は散歩の似合う軽快なテンポの曲で、けれど聴き手の背中を押すという意味では共通していますね。

「これは頑張っている人に贈る応援歌ですね。思うようにいかなくて悩むことがあっても、辛い経験があるからこそ楽しみも増えるんだと捉えれば、その遠回りすら楽しめるってことを伝えたい。私自身、歌手デビューを叶えるまでに９年かかったけれど、振り返るとホントにそう思うから。」

──タイトルの通り、とても等身大な曲ですよね。

「まさに！　あと、今回のカップリングはとにかく曲が好きなんですよ。３曲目の「COMPASS」はドラマチックなバラードで、雪が降り積もってゆく景色の中でも遠くに光が差し込んでくるようなイメージ。泣きたい時は涙枯れるまで泣けばいい。でも、春になれば雪の下から新芽が芽吹くように、きっと今の辛さから花開く日がくるから…っていう、ちょっと聴き手に寄り添った曲ですね。」

──冬をなしに希望あふれる春は巡ってこないですもんね。こうして見ると、３曲全て聴き手に力を与えるリアルなものになってますが、それが今のearthmindのスタンス？

「もちろんです。みんなの気持ちを代弁したいという結成当初からの想いが、リリースを重ねる中で、だんだんかたちになってきているんですよ。それはすごく嬉しいことだし、とにかく今年はライヴをしたいですね。みんなとつながって、エネルギーを交換して。丸裸でぶつかり合っていきます。」
