【earthmind】闇を抱えても突き進む、それが伝えたい想い

　2011年にシングル「B-Bird」でデビューしたearthmindのニューシングル。人気ゲーム『Fate/stay night［Realta Nua］』の世界観に寄り添い、収録曲3曲で三者三様の想いを描いたとErina（Vo）が語ってくれた。

──似通ったメロディー、歌詞、世界観で異なる3曲を収めた本作は、どういった経緯から生まれたのでしょう？

「今回はPlayStation(R)Vita専用ソフト『Fate/stay night［Realta Nua］』の主題歌ということで、ゲーム内で主人公を務める3人それぞれの主題歌を作ろうという話になったんですよ。だから、一見同じように見えるかもしれませんが、よく聴くと視点が違うんです。」

──なるほど。それぞれの音、歌詞が主人公の心境とリンクしているわけですね。まず表題曲でもある「ARCADIA」は、ずいぶん前向きでパワフルなバンドサウンドに仕上がっていますが。

「未熟ながらも“正義は勝つ！”と信じて、前に突き進んでいく歌ですね。歌詞にも前向きな強い意志が込められているから、すごく共感できて入り込みやすかったんです。“理想郷”という意味のタイトルに合わせて、理想をちゃんと現実につなげていきたい…っていう想いを力強く歌うように心がけましたし。駆け抜けていくような疾走感のあるサウンドからバンドメンバーの熱い気持ちを感じることができたので、気持ち良く歌えました。」

──その中でも、特にグッときた部分はどこでしょう？

「《ふいに耳を澄ませば》で始まるDメロですね。誰でも弱気になったり、悲しみに押しつぶされそうになることはあるけど、そういった弱さや怯えを描いたことで、より曲の強さが際立たったと思うんです。レコーディングでも“すごくいい！”って褒めていただけました（笑）」

──初回生産限定盤B typeの表題曲である「HORIZON」は、「ARCADIA」の完全なるデジタルチューンですね。

「根本には“正義は勝つ！”という思いがありつつも、“正義とは？”といった矛盾や世の理不尽を知ってしまったがゆえに、苦しみながら進んでいくという歌です。光のイメージで歌った『ARCADIA』に対して、『HORIZON』はブルーというか…どこか冷めた世界観ですね。初回生産限定盤C typeの表題曲である『Another Heaven』は闇や孤独を抱えながらも正義の強さに惹かれて、同調していく…グレーやピンクが交じり合うな感じ。最初はピアノでスローに始まるのに、途中から息継ぎできないくらい速くなっていくから、歌うのは本当に難しかったです（笑）。でも、サビ明けのOmmyのギターソロがむちゃくちゃカッコ良くて、鳥肌立ちました！」

──視点の違いから『Fate/stay night［Realta Nua］』の主人公3人の性格が伝わってきますね。その中で共通して強烈なインパクトを与えるのが“閃光の夢”というワードかと。

「私も“閃光”の意味をとっても調べたんですよ（笑）。MVの撮影でも、強い光を当てられるシーンがあったんで、“あ、これが閃光かな？”と思ってみたり。その時が、もう焼け死ぬんじゃないか!?ってくらいに熱かったので、それくらい熱い想いで“絶対に夢を叶えていくんだ!!”っていうイメージができました。」

──3曲で3人の感情を描いているものの、誰もが共感できる思いだったりしますよね。

「そうなんです！　だから、その時の心境によって刺さる曲や箇所も違うだろうし、『Fate/stay night［Realta Nua］』という純粋で素直な世界を通して、そういった人間味あふれる楽曲を生み出せたのは、earthmindのポリシーにもピッタリ合致するんですよ。綺麗事だけでなく、自分の中にある闇を認めた上で勇気や希望を持って突き進んで行こう…それがearthmindの伝えたいメッセージなので、名前に負けないように地球の声、みんなの声を今後も届けていきたいと思います。」
