6月29日の新宿ReNY公演を持って解散するTokami。最新作『Black Discs』と解散の真相を告白!?

6月29日(水)新宿ReNYで行われるTokamiワンマンライブ「Unknown Sanctuary ～a place of your own～」。この日を持ってTokamiは(十神時代を含む)11年間の活動に終止符を打つ。きっかけは、唯一のオリジナルメンバーである1000(Dr)の「引退」の言葉だった。先に、その真相を1000自身の言葉を通して記そう。

「Tokamiは自分にとって大切なバンドであるのと同時に、普通のお仕事もありまして。当初は、そのバランスを取りながら活動を行っていました。だけど、今の活況したインディーズシーンの中で上を目指すのであれば、もっともっと攻めた活動をしなきゃいけない。でも、自分のペースに合わせた活動を続けることで上へと駆け上がるチャンスを潰してしまうのなら、自分は潔く身を引き、残った4人に新たなメンバーを加える形を持って、より積極的にTokamiには攻めて欲しかった。そこで「引退」を宣言したわけですが、残った4人は「解散」という道を選んでしまった。」(1000)

Tokamiが解散を決めた一番の理由は、「唯一のオリジナルメンバーであり、Tokamiの活動の中心を担い続けてきた1000さんの意志を継承しながら活動していくのは、この4人には難しかったことから」(Agato)。今は5人とも、残されたTokamiとしての活動の期間へ。少しずつ減ってゆく1本1本のライブに、後悔ないよう全力で向かい続けている。

限られた時間の中、Tokamiは「今の自分たちの証」を示そうと、あえてライブ会場&通販限定という形で、ミニアルバム『Black Discs』をリリースした。中には、Tokamiのライブを支え続けてきた「Tokamiの顔」となる楽曲たちを収録。「今のTokamiのライブの中心軸になっている歌。しかも、ライブを通して進化させ続けてきた最新スタイルを詰め込んだように、今のTokamiの姿で刻んだ曲たちばかり」(Agato) を、新録やライブレコーディングという形で収めている。
　　
Tokamiは今、残り少ないライブへ全精力を注ぎながら、毎回消えない想い出を触れた人たちの心や身体へ刻み続けている。最後に、「解散」の舞台となる6月29日(水)新宿ReNY公演へ向け、1000の言葉を記そう。
「Tokamiでの11年は、自分の人生の中でとても大きな存在です。新宿ReNYのような大きな箱でライブを行う経験も、自分にとっては最後になること。僕自身はもちろん、みんなの青春の想い出として胸に刻むためにも、ぜひ目撃して欲しい。そして最後に僕は、舞台上へウィッグを置いて、普通のオジサンに戻ります」(1000)
