「音楽を通して人と人とを繋ぐ存在になりたい」と語るEmpress。12月25日に会場限定シングル盤を発売!!!

マナ(Vo)・みつき(G)・Yui(B)の3人が手を組み、誕生。2019年7月末日を持って活動を始めたばかり、ポップでガーリーな面とエッジ鋭いハードロックなサウンドを重ねた音楽スタイルを魅力にしているのが、女帝という意味をバンド名に掲げたEmpress。名前はゴツいが、3人とも女帝というイメージとは正反対。ライブでは時折"女帝らしさ"も出るが、3人とも物腰柔らかい性格のように、むしろ上から目線の言葉や態度にひれ伏してしまいそうな女性たちだ。ライブでは、つねに観客たちと「楽しむ」ことをEmpressは心がけている。それを示した3人の会話を入手したので、以下へお届けしたい。

マナ：今のEmpressが最も大切にしているのが、「ライブを通し、お客さんたちと一緒に楽しむ」こと。自己満足を求め、お客さんたちをおいてけぼりにするようなライブだけは絶対にしたくない。むしろ今は、ステージと客席との垣根を無くし、一緒にはしゃぎながら騒ぎ倒せるライブを心がけています。
Yui：みんなハードな音楽性を好むように、演奏面にはがっちり激しさを出しながら。でも、キャッチーな歌を魅力にしていれば、ガーリーな…可愛い女の子らしさも大事にしながらライブや楽曲の制作も押し進めているからね。
マナ：最初こそ、バンド名に合わせ"女帝感"を心がけていたんだけど、3人とも性格が女帝とはかけ離れてすぎてるというか(笑)。それに「上から目線で攻める」スタンスは嫌だったこともあって、バンド名とは異なり、うちらに女帝感はないです(笑)。Yuiに関しては、ライブ中にモニターへ足をかけ大股開いて演奏をするなど、かなりワイルドなロック姉ちゃんしているけどね(笑)。
Yui：格好よくガンガンに攻めたい姿勢のせいか、ついモニターに足をかけ、お客さんたちを煽ってしまいます(笑)。でも、ライブを観ている方ならわかってると思うけど、みんなライブ中はすっごい笑顔なんですよ。そうなるのも、一方的なステージングではなく、フロアとコミュニケーションを取れてる実感を何時も得ているからなんです。だから、「一緒に楽しむ」姿勢は何時も心がけながらライブを行なっています。
みつき：わたし自身もそうだし、Empressというバンド自体が「音楽を通して人と人とを繋ぐ存在」になりたいんですよ。それがステージングを通して伝わるからこそ、お客さんたちも「楽しさ」が欲しくてEmpressの音楽を求めてくるように、そこはもっともっと突き詰めていきたいところです。
マナ：音楽性に関してはね、ハードロック・サウンドを軸に据えながらも格好いいスタイルからポップな表情や可愛らしい面までといろいろ求めているように、軸をぶらすことなく、今は柔軟に広げていきたいなと思ってる。
Yui：たとえポップな楽曲を作ろうと、3人とも激しい音楽性が好きだから、自然とそこを突き詰めてしまうからね。
マナ：いくらポップな歌でも激しいサウンドで攻めてくように、そこのバランス感が今のEmpressの魅力になっていると、自分たちでも感じています。

　Empressは、ギターみつきの誕生日当日となる12月25日に、会場限定盤として1stシングル「one day/渚」を発売する。収録した2曲は、今のEmpressのライブに於ける顔となる曲たち。2020年4月には全国流通盤となる1stミニアルバムの発売も予定しているが、今回は、そこへ向けてのプロローグとして、ライブに足繁く通う仲間たちへ向け、楽曲をより深く共有するためのアイテムとして制作。あえて、ライブ会場のみの限定販売という形を取っている。今は関東を中心とはいえ、最近では名古屋でもライブを行ないだしたように、2020年は地方へも勢力的に足を伸ばす予定だ。気になったら、まずはそのライブ姿を直接確かめていただけたら幸いだ。最後に、メンバーを代表しマナからのメッセージを記そうか。

マナ：初めてライブを観た人たちさえ一緒に騒いでくれるように、初見でもすぐに楽しめるのがEmpressなんです。その楽しさを味わいにライブへ足を運び、1stシングル「one day/渚」も手にしてください。2020年4月には、初の全国流通盤となる1stミニアルバムを発売します。もちろんライブも、毎月相応の本数行なっているように、まずはEmpressのライブに触れ、一緒に騒ぎましょう!!!
