LM.C、熱狂のツアーファイナルで10周年記念シングル第二弾リリースを発表

2016年に結成10周年目を迎える、ヴォーカリストのmayaとギタリストのAijiによるロックユニット、LM.C（エルエムシー）。3月16日に周年第一弾シングル「MONROEwalk」をリリースし、その直後からスタートしたツアー「Go to the 10th Anniversary LM.C TOUR 2016-GIMMICAL IMPACT-」のファイナルが4月30日（土）、東京キネマ倶楽部で行なわれた。

掛け値なしに幸せと笑顔だけでいっぱいに満たされた空間がそこにはあった。“皆、楽しかった？ そうだよね。その笑顔が、全てを物語っていると思います”とフロントマンのmayaが全曲を歌い終えたあとでそう語ったように、今宵この場に集った人々は誰もが輝かんばかりの素敵な表情を湛えていたように見えたのである。

今秋にいよいよ始動から10周年を迎えるLM.Cが、GW真っ只中の鴬谷・キネマ倶楽部で行なった「Go to the 10th Anniversary LM.C TOUR 2016-GIMMICAL☆IMPACT !!-」のファイナル公演。このツアータイトルからもわかるとおり、今年に入ってからのLM.Cは、これまでに発表してきた4枚のフルアルバムを計4本のツアーでおさらいしながら、10月に控える10周年という節目へと向け、力強く歩を進めているところ。もちろん、今ツアーの中で主軸となっているのはツアータイトルからわかるように、2ndアルバム『GIMMICAL☆IMPACT!!』（2008年発表）に収録のナンバーだ。

奥行きのあるドラマティックな音像がオーディエンスの期待を煽った「Rainbow Magic Orchestra」をSEにしながら、mayaとAijiがステージへ姿を現すと、その時点ですでに場内からは大歓声が巻き起こる。そんな中で彼らが最初に鳴らしたのは、ダイナミックにしてスリリングな面持ちのロックチューン「Z-MAN」。そのあとに矢継ぎ早で放たれたのは、サイケデリックなフレーバーとミラクルな味わいが見事に融合した「CHEMICAL KING-TWOON」だった。

未だにLM.Cの代表曲として根強い人気を誇っている「88」では、観客たちがサビを大合唱しながら青いLEDグッズを光らせて、歌詞にあるとおりの美しく輝く“夜空”を演出するというマーベラスな一幕も。なお、この粋な“夜空”は、mayaの希望で次の「cosmology」でも場内をコスモブルーに染める。 また、かつてフランスの音楽チャート番組で何週にもわたって上位にランクインしたという逸話を持つ、モータウンビートが特徴的な「Sentimental PIGgy Romance」については、このツアーで偶発的に生まれたというデスメタル調の「Deathmetal PIGgy Romance」として披露。「my girl」もその場のノリ（思いつき？）でmayaが急きょ“my girl - 鶯谷のキャバレーVer.-”と題し、夜の世界にありがちなチャラい“合いの手”を聴衆がこぞって入れていくという大胆不敵なスタイルでの試みもなされた。始動してからの約10年、ずっと自由な遊び心を大事にし続けてきているこの姿勢は、LM.Cの真髄とも言えよう。

そういえば、今宵のライヴでも演奏されていた今春発表のシングル「MONROEwalk」もまた、オールドスクールなロックンロールのエッセンスをちりばめた遊び心いっぱいの1曲だった。“また次は6月のツアーもあるし、7月に出る新しいシングルも、けっこうヤバいヤツになってるんでね。皆、今から首を鍛えておいてください（笑）。ほんと今日も最高でした。どうもありがとう！”（Aiji）。“10周年へ向けと一緒に歩いていこうぜ！ 最高でした。今日もまるで“最幸”に完璧に！ LM.Cでした。Peace!!”（maya）。

ちなみに、6月から始まるのは3rdアルバム『WONDERFUL WONDERHOLIC』の楽曲を中心にした「Go to the 10th Anniversary LM.C TOUR 2016-WONDERFUL WONDERHOLIC-」で、8月には4thアルバム『STRONG POP』の世界を再構築していく「Go to the 10th Anniversary LM.C TOUR 2016-STRONG POP-」が控えている。また、ちょうど彼らの始動から10年を迎える当日に行なわれるのが、10月16日（日）に舞浜アンフィシアターで開催されるワンマンライヴ「☆★☆★☆Rock the WONDERLAND☆★☆★☆」だ。

そして、ライヴ中のMCでメンバーから嬉しいニュースが！ 結成10周年記念第二弾シングル「レインメーカー」が7月20日にリリースされることが決定した。詳細は後日発表となるが、アニバーサリーイヤーを飾る新作だけに、期待していてよさそうだ。
