シシド・カフカ、レトロな音が詰まったサマーチューン！

　テレビ番組『新堂本兄弟』のバンドメンバーとしても活躍するシシド・カフカが、新曲「ダメかしら？」を配信リリース。ヴィンテージ楽器を使ったこだわりのサウンドによる、新しい夏のナンバーが生まれた。

──新曲「ダメかしら？」は、すごく独特な曲調ですね。サビのカラッとした感じは、冒頭のウェット感のあるサウンドからは想像がつかないですね。

すみません、ヒネくれていて（笑）。AメロとBメロはレトロな感じがあって、そこは遊び心と言いますか、サビのハジけ感とのギャップが楽しいです。ドラムの音もヴィンテージドラムを使っているので、50年代?60年代のちょっと古い音というイメージで録りました。作曲の平出悟さんには、ギターのアーミングを使いたいとか、夏っぽくというキーワードを投げさせていただいて、それで上がってきた曲がこれなんです。“こういう古い感じ、よくない？”“いいっすね！”って、ノッて作っていった感じですね。

──アーミングは、ウィーンってギターのアームを使って音を揺らすやつですよね。ドラマーであるカフカさんが、他の楽器のプレイに着目するというのも面白いと思いました。

1度もやったことがなかったから、面白いんじゃないかと思って。それに私、曲を聴く時ってドラムはあまり聴かないんですよ。ドラムだけをやっていた時も、ドラムのフレーズをメロディーとしてとらえていて。だからって、ヴォーカルをやるようになったらなったで、今度は逆にメロディーをリズムとしてとらえるようになったという。これはもう聴く時の癖みたいなものなんですよ。

──ヴィンテージドラムを使ったということで、今のドラムと具体的に音がどんなふうに違うのですか？

今回使ったのは、アルバム『カフカナイズ』に収録されている「100年ビール」で使ったものと同じ、60年くらい前のドラムです。今のものよりサイズが小さくて、音の重さが違うので、今のサウンドに慣れている方は、少し物足りなく感じるかもしれないですが、今回の曲のようなダンスチューンの電子音とは、意外とうまくマッチするんですよ。

──夏っぽさもキーワードだったそうですが、歌詞は夏だから恋して騒ごうみたいな、単純なものとは少し違いますね。

そうですね。夏って海で水着になってライトな恋をしてみたりとか、みんな気持ちも身体も開放感に向かっていくけど、どこかで物足りなさを抱えつつ、何か芯になるものを探しているんじゃないかと思うんです。抱えているものがあるからこそ、開放に向かうっていうか。そういうものが表現できたらいいなと思いました。でも、夏っぽいギラギラとした部分と、グッと気持ちを引きつけるようなところのバランスの取り方が難しかったし、いかに夏らしく派手に聴こえる擬音を探すかというのに苦労しましたね。

──サビに出てくる《Bang Bang》とか《jin jin》ですね。

文字面で見ると、ダサいですけど（笑）。歌ってみると語感がいいんです。実際に言葉を変えて歌ってみてを何度も繰り返して、スタッフと一緒に考えました。実は、歌詞で擬音って使ったことがなくて、そういう意味ではトライでしたね。

──MVでは、ダンスにもトライしていますよね。

高校の体育祭で踊って以来でしたよ。でも酷いのは、みんなもっと踊れないと思っていたらしくて。頑張ったのに“踊れすぎて面白くない”って言われたという（笑）。MVはかわいさがテーマなので、アイドルっぽくかわいらしい感じでやっています。こういうのは実に私らしくないんですが、こういう私、“ダメかしら？”って。
