the pillows、4カ月にわたり行なってきた『ムーンダスト・ツアー』の最終公演を開催

the pillowsが昨年11月30日から4カ月にわたり行なってきた『ムーンダスト・ツアー』のファイナルを3月28日、Zepp Tokyoで行った。

the pillowsは昨年10月に、結成25周年のアニバーサリー・イヤーの総決算としてアルバム『ムーンダスト』をリリース。同作を携えての今回のツアー、27公演目となるこの日のZepp Tokyoはソールドアウトのフルハウス状態。午後6時を少し回ったところでメンバーが登場、ニュー・アルバムのオープニング曲でもある「Clean Slate Revolution」からライヴはスタートし、まずは新旧取り混ぜたthe pillowsならではのロックン・ロール・ナンバーで会場を盛り上げていった。

そしてヴォーカル・山中さわおによるユーモアあふれる曲間のMCトークもはさみつつ、中盤以降は、バラードを加えながら緩急自在に会場をコントロールしていく。

山中が“名曲が出来た！"と紹介し演奏したアルバム・タイトル・ソング「ムーンダスト」から、お馴染みの「ハイブリッド レインボウ」の流れで観客をピロウズ・カラーに染め抜いた後は、メンバーひとりひとりのMCで会場を和ませる。その後は再びロックン・ロール・ナンバーでたたみかけ、ファンにとってのアンセム中のアンセム「LITTLE BUSTERS」で観客の大合唱に包まれて本編は終了となった。

アンコール1曲目の「TOY DOLL」では山中がギターを持たずハンド・マイクで歌い、続く2曲目の「ターミナル・ヘヴンズ・ロック」ではギタリスト・真鍋の持つギターが青い電飾の点滅に包まれる、という観客がどよめくシーンが続き、会場はますますヒートアップ。

2度目のアンコールに「RUNNERS HIGH」で応じた後、最後はまさかのトリプル・アンコールに応え、4度目の登場を果たしたメンバーは、山中の“この世の果てまで連れてってやる"の言葉とともに「この世の果てまで」を奏で、熱狂のうちにこの日のピロウズ・ワールドは終演をむかえた。

今後、the pillowsは4月26日の『ARABAKI ROCK FEST. 15』出演をはさんで、6月にはこの日発表になった新たなライヴを敢行、加えて4月からはInterFMにて山中によるレギュラー番組がスタートするなど、26年目に入っても、まったく勢いは衰えそうにない。この日MCで“まだまだ曲を書く！"と山中が宣言した通り、‘この世の果てまで'続く勢いで、今年もますますアグレッシヴなthe pillowsが見られそうだ。
