PENICILLINメンバーがクマムシと新バンド「KUMACILLIN」を結成!?

PENICILLINの千聖（G）とO-JIRO（Dr）が、「なんだしっ！」「シャンプー」に続くクマムシ3部作最終章「Could you tell me…」のMVに参加したことがわかった。

もともとお笑いネタとして披露されていた「Could you tell me...」だが、実は長谷川が学生時代に英文を覚えるためにメロディーを付けていたことがきっかけで誕生。当時良く聴いていたヴィジュアル系ソングにのせて作曲した記念すべき処女作だ。

サビの英語詞は一見クールに聴こえるが、実は『図書館までの行き方を教えて欲しい』と尋ねているだけというオチつき。本日から公開された「Could you tell me...」MVは、クマムシ自身が想い描いた"これぞヴィジュアル系"といった華麗な世界を映像化している。

ライヴシーンがメインとなっているため、バンドメンバーの選出にもクマムシが参加。長谷川がカラオケの十八番にしている「ロマンス」を代表曲に持つヴィジュアル系バンド PENICILLINの千聖（G）とO-JIRO（Dr）に怯えながらオファーしたところ、楽曲の完成度の高さとクマムシの熱意に応え、快く承諾。晴れて「KUMACILLIN」が誕生した。

さらに、MV出演にとどまらず、衣装・パフォーマンスの演出まで全面バックアップ！ しかし、クマムシ自身の間違ったヴィジュアル系知識がそのまま映像化されたMVは、賛否両論が巻き起こる可能性を残している。

女型に扮したクマムシの佐藤は、スタンバイ中も手鏡を離さず、スタッフに色目を使うなどすっかり女装にハマってしまったようだ。長谷川は、そのいかついキャラを封印するため、ダブルつけまつげ、カラコン、限界を超えたメイクに挑戦し、まんざらでもない様子をみせた。

肝心のライヴシーンでは、千聖の超絶ギターテクニックとO-JIROの的確なビートドラムが演奏を支え、長谷川のパワフルかつハイトーンが冴え渡る独特の美声がライヴシーンに勢いをつける。ちなみにベース役の佐藤は、演奏よりも可愛さ重視のパフォーマンスに心掛けていたようだ。

また、楽曲「Could you tell me…」は9月9日より配信がスタート。是非MVと合わせてチェックしよう。
