今井寿と藤井麻輝のユニット「SCHAFT」が94年以来の本格始動を発表

BUCK-TICKのギタリスト・今井寿とminus（-）、睡蓮の藤井麻輝（当時 SOFT BALLET）が20年以上の時を経て、SCHAFTを本格始動させる事を発表した。

このユニットの始まりは1991年。コンピレーションアルバム『DANCE 2 NOISE 001』に、今井と藤井がSCHAFT名義で楽曲を提供したことから始まる。

その3年後の1994年、ヴォーカルにPIGのレイモンド・ワッツを迎え、アルバム『SWITCHBLADE』をリリース。この作品には、MEATBEAT MANIFESTOのジョニー・ステファンズやKMFDMのギタリストだったスティーブ・ホワイト、THE MAD CAPSULE MARKET'S（当時）のリズム隊、上田剛士とMOTOKATSUも参加し、世界のロック・シーンに呼応するかのような凄まじい作品を作り上げた。

当時ライブは東京と大阪のみで行なわれ、SCHAFTを生で目撃できたのはほんの一握り。涙を飲んだファンも多かった。それ以降、SCHAFT名義での活動は鳴りを潜め、1999年にzilchのリミックス盤『BastardEYES』に参加したのみ。その後、今井寿に関してはBUCK-TICKで今なお活動し続け、藤井麻輝は睡蓮での活動に加え、SOFT BALLETの盟友、森岡賢とminus（-）を結成。お互い本体の活動が充実しているだけにまさか今、SCHAFTでの姿が見れるとは、ファンにとって“寝耳に水"の嬉しいニュースだ。

今回発表になったライブは『TOUR ULTRA - The Loud Engine –』と題した東京での3公演のみ。気になる制作の動向や2人以外のメンバーは発表になっていないが、21年前同様、あるいはそれ以上にまたもやプラチナムチケットと化しそうなこのライブ。チケットは10月3日の18:00から先行受付が始まるので、まずはオフィシャルサイトに急げ！
